Padhmanabha Temple

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is one of the most revered and historically significant temples in India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this ancient temple is a spectacular example of Dravidian architecture, showcasing intricate craftsmanship and an aura of grandeur. The deity is enshrined within a sanctum made of 12,008 shaligrams, sacred stones brought from the Gandaki River in Nepal. The temple is also closely associated with the Travancore Royal Family, who have been the traditional custodians of the temple for centuries. Even today, the royal family continues to perform rituals and ceremonies in honor of Lord Padmanabhaswamy.

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple gained global attention due to the discovery of immense treasures in its underground vaults, including gold, jewels, and artifacts, making it one of the wealthiest temples in the world. However, the temple is not just a site of immense wealth but also a place of deep devotion and spirituality. Pilgrims and devotees from across the country visit to offer prayers and seek blessings, especially during the annual festivals such as Alpashy and Painkuni, which are celebrated with grandeur and tradition.

The temple’s strict dress code and entry regulations are part of its sanctity, preserving the sacredness of the space. Only Hindus are allowed entry inside the temple, and men are required to wear dhotis while women must wear saris or traditional attire.
